fighting climate change and protecting our environment
Climate Change is real, and we’re already seeing its consequences. When our kids can’t play outside because the air is orange with wildfire smoke, temperatures hit 100+ degrees, and coastal homes face the threat of rising sea levels, it’s time to take decisive action. Under my leadership, I will prioritize the following points of action to protect our county's natural resources and create a sustainable future for generations to come.
The fight against climate change can feel frightening, enormous, and overwhelming, but we have a responsibility at every level of government to create a world to pass on to future generations. I will work to make significant strides in the fight against climate change and the protection of our environment in Nassau County.
fully funding public parks
In Great Neck, where my family and I live, parks have played a huge role in the raising of our children. They are important spaces for families to come together and enjoy what our community has to offer. While my opponent has remained silent as community resources like Christopher Morley park pool were permanently closed, I will prioritize the preservation and enhancement of our public parks, ensuring they remain open and well-maintained for the enjoyment of our community. I have led the fight as founder of Residents for Reopening to reopen Christopher Morley park’s pool, and as your legislator, I will work to secure adequate funding for park upgrades, maintenance, and the development of recreational programs that promote a healthy and active lifestyle for residents of all ages.
clean drinking water
I will advocate for strong measures to safeguard our drinking water sources from pollution and contamination. This includes supporting comprehensive water quality testing, implementing stricter regulations on industrial and agricultural practices, and investing in water treatment infrastructure to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water for all residents.
protect the coastline
District 10 is a coastal district, encompassing all of the Great Neck Peninsula and some surrounding areas. I will work closely with local authorities, environmental experts, and community stakeholders to develop and implement effective coastal erosion management strategies for this district. This includes supporting measures such as beach nourishment projects, the implementation of nature-based solutions like oyster reef restoration, and advocating for robust shoreline protection measures.
flooding mitigation
I will support flood mitigation efforts to protect residents and avert property damage. This includes investing in stormwater management infrastructure, improving drainage systems, and promoting sustainable landscaping practices that help reduce runoff and prevent localized flooding.
conservation and environmental education
I will prioritize environmental education programs that raise awareness about the importance of conservation and sustainable practices. By collaborating with schools, community organizations, and environmental groups, we can empower residents to take active roles in protecting our environment through recycling, waste reduction, and responsible resource management.
promoting renewable energy
I will advocate for the increased use of renewable energy sources in Nassau County. By promoting the installation of solar panels, incentivizing energy-efficient practices, and supporting alternative energy initiatives, we can reduce our carbon footprint and transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
